Wilma May Talbert

Wilma May (Mart) Talbert, age 83, of Albia, Iowa, (formerly of New Sharon), went Home to Glory on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Oakwood Specialty Care in Albia.

Wilma’s wishes were to be cremated. A private Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring. Memorials may be made to the family through Winfield Funeral Home or by mailing your gift to the family of Wilma Talbert to Michael Talbert, 115 3rd Ave. E., Oskaloosa, IA 52577.

Wilma was born on October 6, 1936 in Eddyville, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Lillian (Brodley) Mart. She worked as a cook for the Oskaloosa Maid Rite and Livestock Sale Barn, as well as a housekeeper in private homes and for the Friends Church in New Sharon, where she was also a life-time member. Wilma enjoyed flower gardening, cooking/baking, watching Western movies, seeing and playing with her children/grandchildren. She was especially happy if family could stay overnight. Most of all she enjoyed life (and the cow/calves, deer and raccoons she raised on her farm outside New Sharon) and appreciated the many blessings from God. Wilma loved going to church and helping out in the church as needed.

Wilma is survived by her children, Michael (Heather) Talbert of Oskaloosa, Rhonda Herman of Ottumwa, and Blain Talbert of Douds; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her three children, Anita Kibee, Charlene Talbert, and Richard Talbert.
