Funeral services for Irene Morton, 98, will be Saturday, September 22, at 11:00 AM at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Family will receive friends beginning at 10 AM before services on Saturday. Memorials to Hospice of Central Iowa or to The Gideons International. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.pierschbacherfuneralhome.com . Wilma Irene was born April 25, 1909 in Lucas County, Iowa to James and Mae Allison. She attended Chariton Schools. She was married to Graydon Morton in 1928. They were blessed with 4 sons: Larry, Gerald, Graydon Jr., and Donald. They lived many years on the farm and after moving to Chariton she worked for Home Health. She also lived in Newton and for the last 8 years had lived in Elkhart. She enjoyed Country & Gospel Music, and played several instruments herself, with the piano being her favorite. Irene is preceded in death by her parents; husband Graydon; sons Gerald and Graydon Jr.; a grandson Bradley; and a brother Kenneth Allison. Irene is survived by two sons: Larry & Gloria Morton of Chariton; and Don & Cecelia Morton of Newton; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 17 great great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law Peggy Morton of Newton; and a sister-in-law Tillie Allison of Mesa, AZ.
