If you are shopping for Christmas presents, stop! Consider: Wayne James Benway (you may have known him as "Buck") who received his eternal reward on Sunday, November 24th, 2019. The way he lived his life, here on Earth, taught his family and friends many lessons that will be carried on for years to come. Among them: It's okay to do your shopping on Christmas Eve. Enjoy every moment of this God-given life. Who cares if what they want is out of stock? Get them whatever you want to give them. There's nothing wrong with giving your nephews a hammer, some nails and a block of wood. Embrace the mistakes in life. Failures are just stepping stones toward success. Running over a sign with a golf cart can actually make you a better driver. Look the part. You may not be the best, but you can look the best. If you have the right clothes and clubs, people may believe you know what you're doing on the greens, no matter how many times you slice the ball. That being said, don't forget to line up your shot. Smile more and frown less. Smiling takes less energy and we need as much energy as possible for those days when the fish are biting. Don't give up on what you want. Just keep going after it until you get it. Oh, they don't want to hire you, so what? Keep showing up at their door and who knows, they may eventually give in and offer you a job. (Isn't that right, John Deere?) Don't be selfish; put others first. It's not all about you. If you are always running late, just let them know they can start eating without you. Go out of your way to help those in need. If your garage is full of empty cans, there might just be some kid who would love to clean up your mess and earn a little money by going to the redemption center. Those who have learned Wayne's lessons will make sure gifts are given, mistakes turn to memories, the best foot is put forward, smiles are shared, goals are pursued, humility is shown, and help is supplied. Wayne desired to see others healthy, whole and happy and went above and beyond for those he cared about. You may read this and recall a story, where Wayne took the time to show you his heart, just like those he is survived by. His mother (Colleen Benway) and older sister (Deb Verwers) have learned a lot from the 66 years Wayne lived this side of Heaven. He was not only a son and a brother, but a caring protector. And on the rare occasion you'd see Wayne show pride, it usually had to do with his four nephews (and their families): Cory Verwers (wife Rebecca, children Corissa, Zoey and Grayson), Dustin Verwers (wife Danielle, children Carter, Jonas, Eliana, Felicity and Olivia), Joshua Verwers (wife Genevieve, children Kierra, Logan, Reagan and Micah) and B.J. Verwers (wife Abby, children Jacob and Liam). Wayne is now reunited with his favorite fishing partner, Harvey Benway (father) and the greatest fisherman of all time, Jesus Christ. Friends (and strangers Wayne would have liked to meet) can visit with his family at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas starting at 1:00 p.m. and/or join the family in celebrating Wayne's life at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29th.
