Walter "Bud" Johnson

Services for Walter “Bud” Johnson, 78, will be Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in care of Bud’s family.

Walter “Bud” Johnson was born October 1, 1944, to Morris and Alice Johnson in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Bud was raised alongside two siblings, Barb and Bob. His family relocated to Ogden, Iowa where Bud graduated alongside the Ogden High School class of 1962.

While he was out cruising in August of 1967, Bud met Sharon Kay Killion. They were united in marriage three months later, on November 24, 1967. The couple was blessed with three children: Deb, Kevin, and Eric. Bud was a wonderful husband and father.

In his younger years, Bud worked as a farmhand and in construction. He was a hard worker and made the decision to drive a truck. Bud was an over the road truck driver until he retired.

Bud loved to fish, especially with his boys. They went on many memorable fishing trips over the years. He also looked forward to family gatherings and time spent with his grandchildren.

Bud passed away April 14, 2023. He will be dearly missed by his wife, Sharon Johnson; children: Deb (Dave) Scaggs, Kevin (Audra) Johnson, and Eric (Amy) Johnson; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brother, Bob (Shirley) Calkin; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Barb.
