Waid Howard Stubbs

Waid Howard Stubbs of Warsaw, Virginia, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018, at age 71 years, 11 months. He was born and raised in Osceola, Iowa. He entered the Army on July 24, 1963, and served until July 22, 1966. Waid married Jackie Cooper of New Virginia, Iowa. One daughter, Robin Julia, was born to this union. They divorced in 1986. Waid later married Debra Nichols Johnson and became father to Kelli Jo and stepfather to Brandi and Kimberley. He was a mineral miner for more than 50 years. He loved hunting and fishing, and was a member of the Moose Lodge and NRA. Waid had seven grandchildren: Bryce, Nash, Julia, Savannah, Devin, Damon and Trasun; and great-grandchildren, Hero and Eva. Waid was preceded in death by his wife, Debra; daughter, Robin; parents, Abner (Abby) and Esther Gearheart Stubbs Cook; and brother, Nile Vance Stubbs. Waid is survived by daughter, Kelli Jo Lester of Stuart; stepdaughters, Kimberley Jackmon and Brandi Ford of Iowa and their children: Kayleigh, Brittney, Logan, Seair and Skyland; brothers, Leslie of Des Moines and Danny (Lucy) of Corydon; sister-in-law, Judith Stubbs of Norwalk; and many nieces and nephews. Waid will be missed by all who knew him. He was baptized in the Church of Christ at age 13.
