Vickie Ann Fisher

Vickie Ann Fisher, age 68, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023, at the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics.

A visitation for Vickie will be held at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Knoxville on Saturday, August 12, 2023, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3:00 pm. also at the funeral home.

Vickie was born on July 16, 1955, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Edwin Gurney and Patricia Evans. She grew up in Chariton and graduated from high school there. Vickie was united in marriage to Kermit Fisher, and they were blessed with four children, Jason, Joshua, Jeremy, and Misti.

Vickie was employed at Kemin Industries Inc. and worked in manufacturing and retail sales for many years before retiring.  She loved playing bingo and cooking “enough food for an army.” She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family (especially her granddaughter, Ella). Her family remembers her love of laughter, cracking jokes, and being just a little ornery. Vickie had a big heart and would do anything for anybody. She was like a second mother to many who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children; Jason Gurney, Jeremy (Tia) Gurney, and Misti Fisher; her father, Edwin Gurney; siblings, Mike (Angela) Gurney, and Debbie (George) Garrington; granddaughter, Ella Norris; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Vickie is preceded in death by her husband, Kermit Fisher; son Joshua Gurney; mother, Patricia Evans; and stepmother, Delores Gurney.
