Vera L. Spencer

Graveside services will be held for Vera Louise Spencer on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at the Chariton Cemetery. A visitation will be held prior to the service at 12:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton, Iowa. Per Iowa corona virus guidelines, facemasks are required. Vera Louise Spencer was born January 26, 1925 in Lucas, Iowa to Charley and Effie (Tout) Spence. She went to Chinkapin School through the 8th grade, then graduated from Chariton High School in 1943. She taught school for a year, then worked at Gross Galesburg as a factory worker for 32 years. She also worked at the Senior Center until 2012 after retiring, along with volunteering at the Museum and Manor. She enjoyed cake decorating and going to country music jams. She was always going to the movies for entertainment. Vera married Herbert Spencer on June 12, 1975. He preceded her in death on March 12, 1984.
