Velma Mae Davis

Velma Mae Davis passed away peacefully on May 22, 2023, in Chariton, Iowa. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Velma was born on December 15, 1932, to Orville and Olive (Wells) Stark in Oklahoma. She was united in marriage to Glen Robert Davis on June 11, 1950. The couple was blessed with seven children: Letha, Robert, Christine, Glenda, Theresa, Trena, and Kimberly.

Velma worked many jobs throughout her life. She was a head start teacher for a number of years. She also did door to door sales, laundry and housekeeping, manual labor, and she was an RV Manager and bookkeeper.

Velma enjoyed visiting with her family, baking and cooking big meals for family gatherings, making decorations and crafts in her home and yard for the holidays, gardening, and reading her Bible.

Daughter Letha (Jerry) Dodson; grandchildren Angie (Duane) and Scott; great grandchildren: Kristen, Gillian, Donny, Jeremiah, and Savanah.

Cheryl (Ralston) Davis; grandchildren: Robert Gregory, Beverly, (Nolan and Tasha); great grandchildren: Bryce (Kayla), Katie, Maddison, Courtney (Cristian), Casey (Gabe), Ellie, Blake, Amanda (Kyle), Sierra (Ed), Nolan III, and Cody; great-great grandchildren: Grayson, Emilia, Lila, Aubrey, Colton, Chloe, Isabella, Alyana, and CJ.

Son-in-law Johnny Beavers and grandchildren, Jarad (Crystal) and Kelly; great grandchildren: Casey, Camron, and Caleb.

Daughter Glenda (Kenny) Orndorff; grandchildren: Jason (Andrea), Mike (Corrie), and Adam (Tawnya); great grandchildren: Slade, Gavin, Gabriel, Tyler, Colton, Taylor, Paisleigh, (Nikki Lotz), Ashton, Savannah, and Caylee (Dawson); and great-great grandchildren: Zoey, Scarlett, Tyson, Camdon, and Sophia.

Ron Duncan; grandchildren Carrie, Samantha, Shandla, and Lacey (Bradley); great grandchildren, Russell, Nate, Mattie, Jadyn, Adrianne, Nova, Memphis, Morgan, Kenadie, Jovi, and Addie; and great-great granddaughter Zay.

Daughter Trena (Mark) Jones; grandchildren: Corey, Vanessa (Ace), and Wesley; great grandchildren: Ashland, Cilicia, Isabella, McKenzie, Aubrey, Landon, Kaeden, Leon, and Caleb.

Daughter Kimberly and grandchildren, Michael and Jacob.

Sister Lena Kemper; sisters-in-law, Nancy Stark and Marlene Stark; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Olive (Wells) Stark; husband, Glen; son, Robert; daughters, Christine and Theresa; grandsons, Patrick and John Joel; siblings: Ordie, Everett, Wendell, Jim, Jerry, Junior, Doris, Ocie, and Janice; father-in-law, Sammy R. Davis; mother-in-law, Darlene (Wheeler) Davis; brothers-in-law: John Davis, Joe Sims, Paul Smith Sr., Dale Berndt, Marv Kemper, Charles Carter, and Jimmie Martin; sisters-in-law: Nadine, Barb, Thelma, Rachel (Davis) Sims, Esther (Davis) Smith, Betty (Davis) Berndt, and Betty Stark; nieces: Denise, Sherry, Shelly, Emma Grace, Lil Esther Smith, and Gay Lynn Stark; and nephews: Todd Carter, Ordie Jr., Jackie Dale, Clint, James D. Stark, and Danny Stark.
