Thomas “Tom” Duane Gullion, age 75, of rural Attica, Iowa, passed away on January 25, 2022, at his residence.
Visitation for Tom will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at the Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. with family present to greet friends and relatives.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 31, 2022, at the Winfield Funeral Home at 1:00 P.M. Burial with military honors will take place at Silent City Cemetery in Monroe, Iowa. Following burial, refreshments and a time of fellowship will be held at Attica United Methodist Church.
Tom was born on September 27, 1946, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Thomas and Dena (Raveling) Gullion. Tom grew up and attended school in Attica, Iowa, until 8th grade. He then attended Twin Cedars High School and graduated with the Class of 1965. Following high school, he was employed at Rolscreen before joining the United States Air Force in 1965. Tom proudly served his country until his honorary discharge in 1969.
Following his time in the service, Tom was again employed at Rolscreen for almost 30 years. He then drove a truck for Iowa Aluminum in Albia.
Tom was united in marriage to Julia De Haai on November 24, 1984. They were blessed with 37 years of marriage. Tom was a longtime member of the Newton American Legion and the Newton Legion Riders. He was an avid reader, and especially enjoyed watching History shows and telling stories and visiting with friends.
Tom is survived by his wife, Julia Gullion of rural Attica; sister, Mary (Charlie) Spitler of Des Moines; and several nieces and nephews; also his beloved pets, Charlie dog and Lucy cat.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Dena Gullion; and sister, Alice Blalock.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his memory to the Newton American Legion or Attica United Methodist Church.
