Theda Louise Bingaman

Services for Theda Louise (Jackson) Bingaman will be held Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Interment will follow at the Chariton Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Friday, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer's Association or Circle of Life Hospice/Legacy Lodge in Chariton. Theda Louise Jackson was born August 3, 1937 to Carl and Margaret (Brown) Jackson in Chariton, Iowa. Theda was raised in Chariton alongside her brother, Merlon. She graduated from Chariton High School with the class of 1955. On December 17, 1955, Theda was united in marriage to William "Benjie" Franklin Bingaman. Theda and Benjie made a great couple. They were blessed with a great marriage and four beautiful daughters: Vicki, Shari, Christi, and Lisa. Theda was a very loving wife and mother. Benjie always made sure to get a hug and a kiss from her every day before and after work. While Benjie was at work, Theda stayed very busy around the house and yard. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed making clothes for the girls. She was also a wonderful cook and had thousands of recipes and many, many cookbooks. When Theda wasn't working inside, she enjoyed spending time in her garden. She also liked hunting for arrowheads and unique rocks. Theda not only cared for her family, but also volunteered her time and talents in the community. She worked with the children in the First United Methodist Church choir, helped with the Lucas County 4H clubs, and served as a member of the Chariton Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Theda was good with electronics and was always learning new things on her computer. She enjoyed making beads and jewelry. Above all else, Theda enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a wonderful example for her daughters and grandchildren of what a kind and loving mother and grandmother should be. She will be greatly missed by so many. Theda passed away on March 25, 2019 at the age of 81. She is survived by four daughters: Vicki (Mike) Sims, Shari (Dan) Kratoska, Christi (Larry Grismore) Bingaman, and Lisa (Tim) Fitzwilliam; six grandchildren: Michelle (Michael) Swainey, Bobby Stanford, Abby (Justin) Stensland, Benjamin Kratoska, Kristopher (Samantha) Fitzwilliam, and Kody Fitzwilliam; eleven great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary Fyrn Jackson and Jane Bingaman Carter; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Theda was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, William "Benjie" Bingaman; brother, Merlon Jackson; and her parents, Carl and Margaret Jackson.
