Teresa Jane Baumgarten

Teresa was born on July 2, 1956, in Des Moines, Iowa to Nancy Johnson and William Rhoten Jr. She grew up in Carlisle, Iowa before the family moved to South Dakota, eventually settling in central Iowa. She graduated early from Indianola High School in 1973 and was soon blessed with her two daughters, Angela and Michelle. She went on to attend business classes at Creston Community College shortly afterwards. Teresa married her husband, Randy Baumgarten, in December 1997.

Teresa managed various local businesses over the years, including helping Randy with the family farm. She was an avid reader and loved to cook. She had a huge soft spot when it came to animals, resulting in her taking in many rescue dogs over the years.

She is survived by her husband, Randy; daughters, Angela (Scott) Young of Fort Collins, Colorado and Michelle Drake of Ackworth, Iowa; mother: Nancy (Larry) Johnson of Mountain Home, Arkansas; five grandchildren: Alissa (Jesse) Pattee, Alexis (fiancé Addison) Young, Trenton (Daniel) Rosales Gavin, Spencer Gavin, and Grace Young; great-grandchildren: Jocelyn, Lydia, and Vincent Pattee; two brothers: Paul (Diane) Rhoten of Augusta, Kansas and Russ (Vicki) Johnson of Loveland, Colorado; aunt, Pat Toillion of Parkville, Missouri; as well as many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Ed Rhoten; sister, Rhonda Wilson; father, Bill; and niece, Tawnya Wilson.
