Swann Leroy Juline

March 13, 1946 — September 21, 2022

Swann Juline passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. Swann was born on March 13, 1946, in Pleasantville, Iowa, to Harlan and Marie Hixenbaugh Juline. His younger years were spent in Melcher-Dallas and Pleasantville, and he graduated with the Pleasantville Class of 1964.

In 1965, while attending Iowa State University, he married Karen Larsen, and they were blessed with four children, Jeanine, Josi, Jeremy and Jon. He then worked at multiple dealerships as a mechanic specializing in Volkswagons. He eventually established his own business, Juline’s Repair, which grew into his 50-year career as an honest, reliable and trusted exhaust repair and Volkswagon expert. He always said his work was “exhausting,” but he enjoyed it.

Linda Findley DeWild danced into Swann’s life in the late 80s. They were married on April 7, 1990, welcoming to his family daughter Debbie and her husband Tim McClung and Kim and her husband Kevin DeLong. Swann and Linda enjoyed 32 years together watching their grandchildren participate in their various activities, captaining the Swanntoon and fishing with family and friends.

Swann’s love of the Lord and family was of utmost importance in his life. He was devoted as a Deacon, teacher and minister, performing many weddings and funerals.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harlan and Marie Juline and his in-laws Ray and Bonnie Findley. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Linda Juline; six children: Debbie (Tim) McClung of Knoxville, Kim (Kevin) DeLong of Knoxville, Jeanine Scott of Santa Barbara, CA, Josi (Ray) Hard of Williamsburg, Jeremy Juline of Knoxville, Jon (Darcy) Juline of Columbia; and 10 grandchildren Nikki and Braden DeLong, Jared and Blake McClung, Corinne (Geno) Abrájan, Hunter and Kenzie Hard, Laken and Hai Nguyen, and Jalyssa and Easton Juline. He also is survived by three great-grandchildren and one expected in December. He was also survived by his classmate and sister-in-law, Nancy Shilling, and brothers-in-law Ron (Cris) Findley, Bob Findley, Jim (Robin) Findley, and many nieces and nephews.
