Steven J. Kurimski, age 77, resident of Lovilia, Iowa died Saturday, December 23, 2006 at the Monroe County Hospital, Hospice Room, in Albia. Steve was born May 1, 1929 in Lovilia, Iowa to Andrew and Anna (Soltis) Kurimski. Steve married Barbara Ann Crall on April 16, 1955 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Weller, Iowa. Steve was a farmer. He enjoyed attending livestock sales, the outdoors, hunting, Angus cattle, and his pet horse Jake. The light of his life was his family, especially his grandchildren. He was the trustee of Cedar Township. He was in the Farm Bureau Hall of Fame, Outstanding Farmer of the Year (1993). He was also the 4H leader for many years for the Weller Champions 4H Club. Steve is survived by his wife Barbara of Lovilia; Children, Mark and (Pam) Kurimski of Lovilia, Rita Kurimski of Waukee, Iowa, Bernard and (Helen) Kurimski of Lovilia, and Marla and (Bill) Balzer of Runnells, Iowa; Grandchildren, Heather, Ryan, Aaron, Emily and Andrew Kurimski, and Dane and Hailey Balzer. Two sisters, Julie Williams of Burlington, Iowa, and Ann Scholer of Naples, Florida; and one brother, John Kurimski of Burlington, Iowa, also survive Steve. Steve is preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Margaret Massick and Mary Kurimski. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Albia with Rev. William Walter, C.PP.S. Officiating. Burial will follow services at St. Peter?s Cemetery in Lovilia. Visitation will begin after 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia. Family will be present throughout the day and evening. There will be a 4:00 P.M. Rosary, and also a Christian Wake Service be held at 7:00 P.M. also at the funeral home. Casketbearers will be: Fred Scholer, Randy Scholer, Greg Williams, Jon Williams, Ted Williams, and Jay Kurimski. In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to Hospice of Monroe County or St. Peter?s Cemetery of Lovilia.
