Steven Lyn Karr

Steven Karr, 72, of Knoxville, Iowa passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023. A private Family Graveside Service will be held on Friday, December 15^th at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of Steven’s family for future use.

On January 20, 1951, Steven Lyn Karr was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Leland and Frieda (Harvey) Karr. He attended school in Knoxville, graduating with the class of 1969. He married Mardell Rankin, and the couple was blessed with three sons: Scott, Eric, and Justin.

Steven had a love for music. He was a drummer for many bands: Prairie Rose, the Cleeshays, and Elvis’ Experience were the bands he played with and spent countless hours traveling to perform at different places. He also worked at the VA as a Pharmaceutical Tech for several years.

When he wasn’t playing his music, Steven also enjoyed going to the Sprint Car Races. His greatest love was his family. His kids and grandkids brought him so much joy. He cherished every moment with them all.

Steven will be greatly missed by his sons, Scott (Bobbi) Karr and Eric (Becca) Karr; grandchildren: Makenzie, Ava, Morgan, and Bryson; and brother, Gordon (Diane) Karr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Frieda Karr; son, Justin Karr; and sister, Sheryl Rae Karr.
