Steven Jones

Steven Ross Jones, 70, of Chariton, Iowa passed away on January 17, 2023. Services will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton with a luncheon and time of fellowship following the service. Memorials may be made to Steven’s family to be designated at a later date.

Steven Jones was born on May 1, 1952, in Des Moines, Iowa to Donald Richard and Virginia Verle (Calhoun) Jones. He graduated from Des Moines Tech in 1970. He was blessed with three children: Chris, Brian, and Sarah.

Steven had a passion for cooking during his working career, he was a cook at the Wakonda Club and Mercy.

Steven lived in the same home from age 2 until age 52. He was very caring and thoughtful, always having empathy and compassion for those he loved. In his free time, he loved to garden, go fishing, and spend time outdoors. He had a great love for animals, and if he came across a stray cat, you could count on him to adopt it.

Steven had a great love for his family. His children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren meant the world to him. He will be dearly missed by his children: Chris (Mindi) Jones, Brian (Natalie) Jones, and Sarah (Max) Constable; grandchildren: Cora, Kennedy, Ireland, PJ, Cayden, Finley, Calhoun, Deven, Kyle, Zoey, Allen, Virginia, and Emma; great grandchildren: Liam, Aria, Eli, Naenah, Nili, James, Abbey, and Allie; sister, Shelley (Art) Donahoe; nieces, Jennifer and Jessica, and their families; along with much extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Virginia (Calhoun) Jones, as well as many aunts and uncles.
