Steve Black, 58, of Chariton passed away November 26, 2022. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials and condolences may be made to his daughter, Adrian Perry, and his sister, Cheryl Peasley, care of Pierschbacher Funeral Home, 914 Roland Ave., Chariton, Iowa 50049.
Steven Kent Black was born on January 23, 1964, to Dale and Betty (Joy) Black. He graduated from Wayne Community School with the class of 1982. Steve went on to get a degree in criminal justice at Truman State University (formerly Northeast Missouri State University). He was a dedicated employee in the Hy-Vee Warehouse, working there 35 years.
Steve was blessed with a daughter, Adrian. His family meant everything to him, and he was so proud of them, especially his two beautiful granddaughters, Cora and Hazel.
Steve had a passion for many outdoor activities, especially fishing and golfing. He was the first paying member at Shady Oaks Golf Course in Ackworth, Iowa. Recently, he was also the longest paying member. Steve was an avid sports fan and always rooted for the Minnesota Vikings and the Kansas City Royals. He also enjoyed shooting pool and playing scrabble.
Steve was incredible at trivia, whether it be sports, music, or movies. He could name years, authors, etc. He had quite the photographic memory.
Steve will be greatly missed by his daughter, Adrian (Zach) Perry; granddaughters, Cora and Hazel Perry; sister, Cheryl Peasley (Mark Clark); nephews: Chris (Bethany) Peasley, Lauren and Paige, and Nick (Alyna) Peasley, Samantha; aunt and uncle, Stan (Linda) Black; aunts, Marge Babcock and Martha McVey; stepdad, Bud Welch (Sharon Hunter); friend, Theresa Swainey; along with cousins, extended relatives, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Betty Black; infant brother, Kevin Black; and grandparents, Wayde and Othella Black and Art and Mary Joy.
