Sheryl Weaklend

Services for Sheryl Ann Weaklend, 84, of Woodburn, Iowa will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Family will receive friends on Friday, April 14, 2023, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Titonka Care Center.

Sheryl Ann Atcheson was born on September 4, 1938, in Des Moines, Iowa to O.E. and Ethel Atcheson. She was united in marriage to Ed Weaklend on April 5, 1959, in Des Moines, Iowa. Sheryl worked at Bell Telephone in Des Moines. She worked side by side with Ed for several years, raising their children. She then became employed at Furnas Electric in Osceola until her retirement.

Sheryl was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osceola, Iowa. She enjoyed attending horse shows, trail rides, and most of all, spending time with her family. Sheryl was famous in her family for her Scotcharoos.

Sheryl passed away on April 8, 2023, at the Titonka Care Center in Titonka, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Weaklend; daughter, Rhonda Roorda; brothers, Orian, Ken, Rick, Duane, and Ron; and nephews, Ken Atcheson and Ron (Craig) Atcheson.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Teresa (Wendell) Christensen of Algona, Iowa; grandchildren: Jason (Sheena) Christensen of Corvallis, Oregon and Jacob (Natalie) Christensen of Wesley, Iowa; great grandchildren: Kolton, Brody, Cora, Jones, and another one to arrive in October. Sheryl is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Donna Atcheson of Urbandale, Iowa, and Marilyn Atcheson of Texas; numerous nieces and nephews; her partner in crime, Lynette Davenport; and so many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, O.E. and Ethel.
