Sheila Ann Sivill

Sheila Ann Sivill, 81, passed away on January 24, 2024, in Chariton, Iowa, surrounded by her loving family. A funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. A private graveside service will be held at the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Family will greet guests from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Chariton Fire Department, the Chariton Fire Department Auxiliary, or the Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Sheila was born on September 8, 1942, in Chariton, Iowa, to Edward and Evelyn (Krutsinger) Williams. She grew up in Chariton, graduating from Chariton High School. On February 28, 1959, Sheila married David Smith. To this union, they were blessed with four children: Bruce, Shari, Bob, and Barry. On May 29, 1975, Sheila married Larry Sivill, and his daughter Karen was also blessed to become one of Sheila’s children. 

Sheila had several positions during her working career, working for Lucas County Health Center, First State Bank, and for the Hy-Vee Distribution Center. For several years, Sheila enjoyed working at the Iowa State Fair. She was a devoted volunteer for the Chariton Fire Department, serving the Auxiliary for many years. 

An accomplished quilter and seamstress, Sheila gifted countless works to her family and friends. Her quilts can still be found in many households where they will be cherished for years to come. When she was not volunteering her time or making beautiful quilts, Sheila enjoyed spending time with her family. She cherished every moment she spent with those she loved. Attending her grandchildren’s events or enjoying Christmas time were some of her favorite things to do. Larry and Sheila also loved camping and went south for the winter for several years. 

Sheila is survived by her husband, Larry; children: Bruce (Bonnie) Smith, Shari Swarthout, Bob (Cindy) Smith, Karen (Ross) Klein, and Barry (Denise) Smith; grandchildren: Curt (Stacy) Smyser, TJ (Kenna) Smyser, Katie (Randy) Pace, Brooke (Jeremy) Bellon, Karcy (Todd) Hall, Brandt (Jenna) Smith, Blake (Hannah) Smith, Kevin Klein, Ryan Klein, Cassedy Smith, and Cody Smith; great grandchildren: Lexi Smyser, Brynli Smyser, Grady Smyser, Maddox Pace, Braxton Pace, Dexlan Pace, GraceAnn Bellon, Gabrielle Bellon, Genevieve Bellon, Shelby Hall, Mitchell Hall, Jentry Hall, Mason Smith, Reese Smith, and Beau Smith; and a special niece and nephew, Mandy Allison and Andy Williams.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Marty Williams; and a grandson, Joey Dean Smith.
