Sharon Kay Reidel

Sharon Kay Reidel, age 73, of Centerville, Iowa (formerly of Knoxville, Iowa), passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
Visitation for Sharon will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville. Sharon’s family will be present to greet friends and relatives from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at the Winfield Funeral Home at 10:30 A.M. Burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery. Following burial, a meal will be served at the V.F.W. John Myers Post 3519 in Knoxville.
Sharon was born on January 16, 1948 in Knoxville, Iowa, the daughter of Teddy and Myrna (Parker) Spaur. She grew up in Bussey and attended Twin Cedars High School. Sharon was employed for several years as a CNA at the Knoxville Community Hospital until her retirement.
Sharon and Bill Barnes were united in marriage, they were blessed with a daughter, Melissa. Sharon was later married to Denny McDonald, they were also blessed with a daughter, Wendi. Sharon married Gregory Reidel, until his passing. She loved him immensely until her death.
Sharon enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was loved by many and was a lot of fun to be around. Sharon was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes football fan. She especially loved her grandchildren. Her eyes would light up when her grandkids came to visit.
Sharon will be remembered by those who knew her best as “classy, sassy, and a bit bad assy.” She was known affectionately as Mom, Momma, Grandma, Sis, Hurricane, and Iowa.
Those left to cherish Sharon’s memory include her daughters, Missy (Kyle) Van Zante of Centerville, and Wendi (Patrick) Reeves of Indianola; step-son, Tom (Heather) Reidel of Muscatine; grandchildren, Stephanie Lenger, Zach Lenger (Jamie), Justin Lenger (Mackenzie), Marissa (Devon) Riffle, Ty Reeves, and Sophia Reeves; brother, Sonny (Sherill) Spaur of Bussey; sister, Tammy Spaur of Knoxville; brother-in-law, Noel Katter of Knoxville; also nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Teddy and Myrna Spaur; husband, Gregory Reidel; and sister, Maggie Katter.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Sharon’s memory to MercyShips.org, St. Jude’s or American Cancer Society.
