Sandra K. Goemaat

Services will be Friday, March 8, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Sandra passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at the age of 73. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Pella.

Sandra Kay was born on May 31, 1950, to Everett and Mary (Spencer) Roland. She grew up in Pershing, Iowa and attended Twin Cedars Schools. 

Sandra was always a hard worker. She worked at 3M, EDS, the VA, as well as did some bookkeeping at Agan. She married David Wright, and the couple had two children, David and Patty. She later married Jerry Goemaat on May 22, 1976. She was blessed to bring his children into her life as well: Julie, Jerry, Christina, and Bruce. Later, they were blessed with two more daughters, Erin and Rachel.

Sandra helped Jerry on the farm also. They had hogs and row crops for years. She even ran the farm when Jerry was on the road. She was definitely a strong little gal.

When Sandra wasn’t working, she enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially tending to her garden. Some of her favorite TV programs were MeTV, MASH, and Downton Abbey. She also enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball and golf.

Sandra adored her children and grandchildren and was always there to help others. She had a very caring and loving soul, always wanting to put others first.

Sandra will be missed dearly by her children: David Wright Jr., Erin (Justin) Kamerick, and Rachel (Mike) Cecil: stepchildren: Julie (Kelvin) Schultz, Jerry Wayne Goemaat, Tina (Leo) Wadle, and Bruce (Helen) Goemaat; 17 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sister, Linda O’Brien; as well as many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Mary; husband, Jerry; daughter, Patty; as well as siblings: Ronnie, Larry, Merrill, Darlene, Norma, Barb, and infant sister, Virginia.
