Ruth Elaine Steele, age 73, of Albia, Iowa died Sunday, July 8, 2007 at the Monroe Care Center in Albia. She was born October 13, 1933 in Appanoose County, Iowa to Vernon and Marjorie (McFatridge) Fenton. She married Delbert Dwight Steele on February 19, 1950 in the First Christian Church in Albia. He passed away January 4, 1990. Ruth was a graduate of Albia High School, class of 1951. She was a homemaker and had worked at J.C. Penney and LoebÂ?s Clothing Store. She managed the first CaseyÂ?s General Store in Albia and retired from De Long Manufacturing in Albia. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Albia. Ruth enjoyed gardening and making flower arrangements, taking trips with her family and friends and going to Prairie Meadows. She is survived by two children, Wayne (Marsha) Steele of Knoxville and Lora Steele of Albia; 4 grandchildren, Traci White, Jason and Mindi Steele, and Jennifer Laursen, 10 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Two brothers, Jerry Fenton of Colona, IL and Steven Â?BillÂ? Fenton of Pella; 4 sisters: Rubye Mundell of Sun City, AZ, Karole Denato of Sharpsville, IN, Alice Gelles of Knoxville and Denise Foster of Garner also survive Ruth. Her parents, husband, Delbert, one daughter, Linda Ruth Steele, one brother, Delmar Fenton and one granddaughter, Amber Lea Steele precede her in death. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia with Pastor Alan Hayden of the Albia Road Baptist Church of Ottumwa officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak View Cemetery in Albia. Visitation will open after 12:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 10 at the Winfield Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 P.M. on Tuesday evening. Casket Bearers will be Jerry Gray, Donald Steele, Wade Jones, Rick Konrad, Dave Mick and Hjalmer Lindberg. Honorary Casket Bearer will be Dean Murphy. An Open Memorial has been established in RuthÂ?s name.
