Ruth Anna Nordquist, age 83, of Albia, Iowa died Sunday, August 13, 2006 at Monroe County Hospital in Albia. Ruth was born August 7, 1923 in Albia to Raymond A. and Winnie (Hammond) Shelquist. She married Harold R. Nordquist on January 27, 1946 at her parents' home in Albia. Ruth was a graduate of Albia High School, class of 1941. She was a homemaker. She also worked various jobs including, working as a Home Health Aid and at Chamberlain Manufacturing in Albia. She retired in 1985 as a Nurses Aid at the Veterans Hospital in Knoxville. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and a member of the Women?s Circle. She was an avid bowler, participating in local, state, and national bowling tournaments. She placed seventh nationally at one tournament. Ruth is survived by her husband Harold of Albia; three children, Nancy (Bob) Sturtevant of Ft. Collins, CO, Karen (Gary) Edgington of West Des Moines, IA, and Connie (Darrel) Hohn of Colleyville, TX; brother, James Shelquist of Kansas City, MO, and sister, Helen Anderson of Bonita Springs, FL. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, David Lucas, Carl Lucas, Kari Coleman, Kristi Peterson, Ryan Edgington, Justin Edgington, Nathan Hohn, Aaron Hohn; and 5 great grandchildren, Karli Lucas, Kyle Lucas, Cameron Fabritz, Noah Coleman, and Isabella Hohn. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Ruby Fabert, and Hazel Wallace. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, August 18, 2006, at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia, with Rev. Kevin Leveck officiating. Burial will follow services at Oakview Cemetery in Albia. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M., Thursday, August 17, at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia with the family present from 6-8 P.M., Thursday evening. Casketbearers will be David Lucas, Carl Lucas, Ryan Edgington, Justin Edgington, Nathan Hohn, and Aaron Hohn A Memorial has been established to the Trinity United Methodist Church Women?s Club
