Ruth Jeanne Wilson was born April 12, 1924, to Warren and Catherine (Husted) Wilson in Topeka, Kansas. She was one of seven children born to the couple. Ruth grew up alongside her siblings in the Topeka, Kansas area. After graduation from high school, she worked for a time at the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility in Manhattan, Kansas.

In June of 1945, Ruth was united in marriage to Ernest A. Anderson. Ruth and Ernest were blessed with three children: John, Michael, and Evelyn. Ruth enjoyed being a homemaker while their children were young. After the death of Ernest in 1971, Ruth worked as a CNA at Shriners Hospitals for Children. She had wonderful experiences while working at the hospital. She married Lloyd Crigler in 1977. He was a special grandpa to all the grandchildren until his passing in 2014.

Ruth had a deep faith, and she instilled that faith in her children. Over the years, she taught Sunday School and was a very faithful member. Church was an important part of her life. She most recently became a member of the Bible Holiness Church in Chariton.

Ruth was a wonderful storyteller. She wrote many poems and short stories over the years. She was also skilled in the kitchen and was known for making the best cinnamon rolls, or “c-rolls”, as she called them.

More than anything, Ruth loved being surrounded by her family. She loved giving (and receiving) attention and looked forward to every family gathering. Ruth had a very special bond with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Her sweet smile and great sense of humor will be dearly missed.

Ruth passed away February 9, 2023, at the age of 98. She is survived by her children: John (Faith, deceased) Anderson of Watertown, South Dakota, Rev. Michael (Kathy) Anderson of Reasnor, Iowa, and Evelyn Eagles of Rogers, Arkansas; 13 grandchildren: Becky (Randy) Hesler, Johnny (Terri Lynn) Anderson, Jennifer (Paul) Light, James (Sheri) Anderson, Joshua (Amber) Anderson, Michael Anderson, David (Debbie) Anderson, Tim (LaVerna) Anderson, Diane Ropp, Joanna (Clint) Poe, Kimberly Kramer, Karla Southerland, and Krista (Jerimiah) George; 52 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren, plus 2 on the way; and brother, John.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husbands, Ernest Anderson and Lloyd Crigler; and siblings: Eunice, Paul “Red”, Mary, Lois, and Anna Jane.
