Russell Schliecher

Russell Harry Schliecher, age 83, of Hiteman, Iowa died Saturday morning, April 21, 2007 at the Oakwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Albia. He was born on August 4, 1923 in Wausau, Wisconsin to Harry Ernest and Edith Clara (Prejont) Schliecher. He married Lelah Jean Gundrum on August 4, 1988 in Clewiston, Florida. Russell was a veteran of World War II having served two stints with the U.S. Marines and the U.S. Navy. He was a sportsman enjoying fishing and hunting and loved the outdoors. His wife, Lelah of Hiteman: 8 children, Roger of North Bend, Oregon, Clifford of Forrest Lake, Minnesota, Dean of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, Greg of St. Paul, Minnesota, Terry of California, Scott of Kansas, and John and Joseph both of Albuquerque, New Mexico survive him. Also surviving are 13 step-children: Delores Miller of Des Moines, Iowa, Ida Schlenzen of Ottumwa, Iowa, Carolyn Miller, John Miller and Larry Miller all of Muscatine, Iowa, Ricky Shaw, Thomas Shaw and George Shaw of Spokane, Washington, Billie Jo Blankenship of Angola, Indiana, Phillip Shaw of Butler, Indiana, and Quintin and Gregory Scott Shaw both of Hamilton, Indiana, and Daniel Gundrum of Oskaloosa, Iowa; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Two sisters, Dorothy Wiese of Farmington, Minnesota and Jean Wahner of Paradise, California also survive Russell. Russell was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Russell Harry ?Rocky? Schliecher and one daughter, Shonah Lee Schliecher; three step-children, David Shaw, Patrick Shaw and George Miller; one brother, William ?Bud? Schliecher and two sisters, Eilene Tutawohl and Violet Galloway. Cremation was accorded per his wishes and no formal services are planned. A scattering of cremated remains will be held in Minnesota at a later date.
