Ronald J. Garrington

Ronald J Garrington was born December 26, 1942 in Knoxville, Iowa; the only child of Walter and Eva (Jones) Garrington. He grew up in the Chariton, Knoxville, and Pershing areas and went to Attica schools through the eighth grade when he then went to Des Moines Tech. Ron was a United States Marine during Vietnam and served as a helicopter mechanic in Vietnam.
Ron was a member of the Local 33 Steamfitters and worked for himself as a welder. Welding was his career and dirt bikes were his passion. He loved racing motocross. Ron was married to Patricia in 2005. After retiring, he and Patricia built their dream home in rural Lucas County, complete with room for his shop to work on things and a motocross track in the timber and fields surrounding his home.
Ron passed away at his home on April 9th 2021 at the age of 78. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Patricia; their children: Ted (Kristi) Garrington, Leesa (Dan) Nieland, Sean McClure, and Heather (Bret) Tamminga; and 10 grandchildren; along with many friends.
