Ronald Harris

Ron Harris, 80, of Seymour, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. Per his wishes, there will be no services.

Ronald Lee Harris was born at home on a farm near Seymour, Iowa to Vincent and Viva (Batterson) Harris. He grew up in the Seymour area alongside his sister, Rose Marie, and graduated from Seymour High School.

Ron worked at International Harvester in Marshalltown and Vanderpool Implement in Indianola before moving to Phoenix, Arizona. After retirement, Ron moved back to Seymour, Iowa. He enjoyed his time putzing around the farm, cutting trees and firewood. Ron was a very skilled woodworker and loved working with his hands. He was an avid John Wayne enthusiast as well.

Ron is survived by his brother-in-law, Bill Carpenter; nieces and nephews: Terry (Connie) Carpenter, Brenda (Kevin) Stursma, Diane (John Braswell) Manser, Tom (Maggie) Carpenter, and Deb (Jeff) Pierce; and a host of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Viva Harris; wife, Joy Harris; and sister, Rose Marie Carpenter.
