Rodney "Toad" Callahan, of Melcher-Dallas, passed away March 4, 2019 at the age of 66. Services will be held Saturday, March 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas. Family will receive friends prior to the service, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Legion Post 632 in Melcher-Dallas. Rodney Wayne Callahan was born August 30, 1952 to Alice (Seddon) and Robert Callahan in California. His family moved to Melcher-Dallas, Iowa when he was in grade school. Toad graduated from Melcher High School in 1970. Toad worked at AMF for many years until they closed their doors. He then took a job at the Hy-Vee Distribution Center in Chariton. When he wasn't working, Toad loved being outdoors. Toad enjoyed hunting, golfing, and mushroom hunting. He was an avid sports fan and followed all college sports teams, but was an Iowa fan above all else. People always gravitated towards Toad. He was a good ole guy with a heart of gold. Toad enjoyed spending time with his buddies and was very close with his mom. Kids loved him, dogs loved him, and he was a good friend to all that knew him. He will be greatly missed by many. Rodney is survived by his siblings, Rick (Gwen) Callahan and Sylvia (Jeff) Gieseke; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Robert and Alice Callahan; and brothers, Bob Callahan and Tom Callahan. Visitation
