Robert Leo Robinson, 76, passed away on January 1, 2024, at his home in Chariton, Iowa. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Chariton Cemetery. A luncheon will immediately follow at First United Methodist Church in Chariton.

Rob was born in Monticello, Iowa on February 19, 1947, to Jack and Lucy (Tuel) Robinson. Following high school, he joined the United States Army, where he proudly served his country for three years. His entire life, Rob had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. He spent countless hours studying topics he found interesting or helpful. Not only did he want to grow intellectually, but Rob also craved spiritual growth as well. He spent many hours reading the Bible, enthralled by its teachings. Rob studied law and business at the University of Iowa. His love of reading and learning led him to a career in publishing. Rob not only published books, but he was also an accomplished author. When it was time to relax, Rob loved to garden; he even built a greenhouse on the property.

Rob is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughters: Heather (Matt) Riechmann, Kara Shafran, and Nicole (Matt) Denlinger; son, Shea (Chloe) Trenary; grandchildren: Carter, Kobey, Griffin, Kasen, Rhett, Harlow, Brittany, Bradley, Madie, Mia, Eli, and Emily; great granddaughter, Zyra; and sisters, Carol Lawrence, Mary (Bob) Yanda, and Donna Banowetz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother in-law, Don Lawrence.

Rob’s final journal entry read: “As of this date, the Primary Care Doctor in my life is Doctor Robert L. Robinson, a member of various medical associations and a senior at the University of Life.”

Memorials may be directed to his family.
