Robert "Jake" Sullivan of Chariton passed away on May 20th, 2023, at the age of 80. Jake was born in Cardiff, Maryland on April 21st, 1943, to Robert and Hollis (Jones) Sullivan. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 3rd, 2023, at 1706 Armory Ave. in Chariton at 12 p. m. Memorials may be made to the family.
Jake was raised in Delaware. After he turned 21, he joined the Navy where he proudly served for 8 years. He met Paula Russo on a blind date on February 11th, 1977, and they married on June 2nd, 1979. In 1980, Jake and Paula moved to Colorado. He began his own trash business.
Jake had a love for nature and enjoyed spending time outdoors – especially fishing! He had a deep appreciation for wildlife and had many encounters with bears, mountain lions, and snakes.
Jake was full of life and never met a stranger. He was quite the character, always quick with a joke.
Along with his wife Paula Russo, Jake is survived by his children: Michael (Wendy) Sullivan, Nick Russo, and Shannon (Joe) Knowler; sister, Linda Dawson; 11 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Hollis (Jones) Sullivan.
