Robert Dale “Bob Crews, age 72, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away at his home on Monday, June 7, 2021, in Knoxville, Iowa.
Visitation with Bob’s family present will be held from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M., Friday, June 11, 2021 at Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville.
Celebration of Life for Bob will begin at 11:00 A.M., Friday, also at the Winfield Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow services at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville, Iowa.
Robert was born on August 20, 1948, in Knoxville, Iowa, the son of William Hartley and June (Dearinger) Crews. Robert attended and graduated from Knoxville High School, Class of 1966.
On February 3, 1967, Robert enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country as a Jet Engine Mechanic. He served in Vietnam and in several different countries until 1971. Later he served in the Army National Guard based in Tulsa, Oklahoma from 1981 to 1982.
After his service Bob went to Oklahoma State University for two years and then graduated from the Spartan School of Aeronautics in mechanic engineering.
Bob worked all over the United States as a jet engine mechanic and for 20 years was a crew chief of Aircraft Maintenance for American Airlines.
Robert was united in marriage to Carol Sue Musselman on April 27, 1972. Bob and Carol were blessed with one son Robert, Jr.
Bob worked and lived in several different place during his career including Florida, Illinois, Oklahoma, Texas, Ohio, and Indiana. Bob loved traveling all over the United States and many different countries.
On January 14, 2005, in Ocala, Florida, Robert and Sharon (Stoneking) Thomas were united in marriage. They were blessed with 16 years of marriage before Roberts passing and their family grew to include: Tim, Terry, and Elisha.
Bob is survived by his wife Sharon Thomas-Crews; four children; Robert D. Crews, Jr., and his wife Amber, Tim Thomas, Terry Thomas and his wife Lori, and Elisha Fisk and her husband John; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Bob is also survived by his sister Diana Anderson and husband Billy, and his brother Carl Sailors and wife Judy.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents William and June (Dearinger) Crews; his first wife Carol Sue Crews and his brother George Crews.
The Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville is assisting Bob’s family with services.
