Robert Paul “Bob” Courtney, age 90, of Bussey, Iowa passed away on Friday, February 12, 2021 at West Ridge Specialty Care in Knoxville.
Visitation for Bob will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville.
A memorial service for Bob will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Winfield Funeral Home, with Pastor Kevin Glesener to officiate. Burial will be held at a later date at the Marysville Cemetery in Marysville, Iowa.
Robert Paul Courtney was born on March 21, 1930 at their home in Marysville, Iowa, the son of Jack and Erma (Metz) Courtney. Robert Paul attended Marysville School and soon after enlisted in the United States Navy and served for two years during the Korean War.
Bob was united in marriage to Alyce Irene Thompson on September 5, 1958 in Woodward, Iowa. They were blessed with five children: Terry, Bobbi Irene, Jack, Vicki, and Doug. Bob and Alyce lived and raised their family in Bussey, Iowa.
Bob worked for many years at John Morrells in Ottumwa and for several years Rolscreen in Pella, until his retirement. Bob like to piddle in his shed and maintaining the family truck, “Old Green”. He was also a former member of the Marysville Church.
Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years Alyce Courtney of Bussey; their three children, Jack Courtney of Knoxville, Vicki Courtney of Ottumwa, and Doug Courtney and his wife Rose “Scooter” of Moravia; one grandson Jeremy “J.D.” Courtney; and one brother Roland “Swede” Courtney of Bussey.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents Jack and Erma Courtney; two children in infancy Terry Courtney and Bobbi Irene Courtney; one grandson Nathan Lee Courtney; his daughter-in-law Karen Courtney; three sisters Paula Pottorff, Vivian Stillwell, and Darlene Kirtley; and one brother John Courtney.
The Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville is assisting Bob’s family with services.
