Bob was raised in a Christian home and at the age of 6, he trusted Christ as his personal Savior at bible school.
After graduation from high school, Bob attended Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, Iowa where he majored in Bible. It was there he met the love of his life, his wife Sherry.
Bob and Sherry were united in marriage September 19, 1970. They were blessed with two sons, Travis and Kevin. There were married 51 years.
Bob supported his family being a commercial painter for many years and then joined Vermeer in Pella in 2005, where he continued doing what he loved to do, paint.
Bob was a member and deacon at Faith Baptist Church where he was deacon secretary and often commented how he needed to get his notes to that “grumpy church secretary”. (Sherry his wife is the church secretary). Bob often loved to help Sherry in the church office just so they could spend more time being together.
Bob loved riding his Goldwing motorcycle, but most of all he loved spending time with his best friend, Sherry, just holding hands and being together doing not so special things, just being together.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Sherry; sons, Kevin, Travis, daughter-in-law, Shannon; grandsons, Ethan and Klaes; older brothers, Vernon Smith of Marion, Iowa, Don Smith and wife, Phyllis of Maple Valley, Washington; also numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Rollo and Virginia Smith; sisters, Ann and Margaret Smith; brother, Keith Smith and his wife Merna; and another sister-in-law, Loretta Smith.
A memorial has been established to the family or Faith Baptist Church in Knoxville, Iowa.
