Ricky "Papa" Dutton 68, of Chariton passed away on Friday September 25, 2020 in Chariton surrounded by his daughters. A memorial ride and potluck for Ricky "Papa" Dutton will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to Chariton Saddle Club or Shooting Stars 4-H Club of Chariton. Ricky A. Dutton was born April 1, 1952 to Wendell and Esther Krough Dutton in Marshalltown, Iowa. He grew up in Clemons, Iowa and graduated from West Marshall High School. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1972. He spent time in Germany from January 1974 through 1977. He was honorable discharged in 1978. He was blessed with three daughters Hali, Shay, and Cody. He attended Kirkwood Truck Driving school and drove truck for several years. He also worked for Hy-Vee Distribution Center. His favorite was farming which he did most of his life. He was a member of the Chariton Saddle Club. Ricky's love for farming also made his love for horses and mules grow. He had many horses over the years, but his favorite was Sophie, and Millie a mule. He enjoyed going on rides. He loved being a father, grandfather, and was looking forward to being a great grandfather in October. He was known to everyone as "Papa", many did not know his real name. He will be deeply missed by his daughters; Hali Gray (Harley Boley), Shay Dutton (David Tuttle), Cody (Jordan) Bell. Grandchildren; Kaden Gray, Caydence Boley, Payton Lavender, Abby Tuttle, Leah Doran, Trent Tuttle, Abigail Doran, Wyatt and Evelynn Bell, a great grandchild due in October. Siblings; Rod Dutton, Vicki Tuttle, Roger Dutton, Wendi Dutton. And many nieces and nephews. Millie his mule. Ricky is preceded in death by his parents, and brother Russell Dutton. Sophie his favorite horse.
