Rick Walters

A Celebration of Life for Rick Walters, 54, of Chariton, will be held Wednesday, August 16, 2023, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Everyone is welcome to come and visit and tell stories as we celebrate Rick's life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lucas County Little League.

Rick Alan Walters was born November 12, 1968, and adopted into the family of Charles Bernard and Jeanine Kay (Jackson) Walters and big sister, Denise Kay. He grew up north of Chariton near Williamson where he attended elementary school and graduated from Chariton High School in 1987. He was a great wrestler, baseball, and football player for the Chargers.

His whole adult life was devoted to his sons, Riley Alan and Charles Reid. His love of wrestling and football continued on in coaching his sons. He was involved in Little League and was a coach to many boys over the years. He enjoyed so much teaching the little guys to play. Rick helped coach both of his boys to State All Stars. He never missed a baseball, football game, or wrestling meet. One day driving from Boone to Centerville to support both boys.

Rick worked for Hy-Vee for over 30 years, both as a truck driver and in the Distribution Center.

Avid Cowboys and St. Louis Cardinal fan. Just ask anyone who knew him.

Rick passed away Saturday, August 12th 2023, at the age of 54. Left to mourn are his parents: Bernard and Jeanine; sons: Riley and Reid; sister, Denise (Barry) Smith; niece, Cassedy Smith; nephew, Cody Smith; great nephew, Beau Smith; and Aunt and Uncles; and many cousins; along with many friends and co-workers.

A Big Guy with a Bigger Heart left us, but will remain in our hearts forever!
