Richard Lee Daugherty of Indianola, formerly of Lacona, passed away on June 1, 2016 at the age of 66. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, June 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Lacona. Family will receive friends from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Lacona. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Society in Indianola. Richard Lee Daugherty was born on December 5, 1949 in Chariton, Iowa. Richard was raised in Lacona, Iowa and attended Southeast Warren Schools. He spent several years working for Maytag in Newton, Iowa. After being involved in an accident on the job in 1983, Richard was unable to work. For the last fifteen years, Richard's home has been the Good Samaritan Society in Indianola, Iowa. The staff and residents there will greatly miss his warm personality and friendly smile. He loved Dodge Pickup trucks and would always give a thumbs up when he saw one. Richard is survived by his sisters: Janis Gruber (George) of Sachse, Texas, Karen Daugherty of Lacona, and Kim King (Dave) of Lacona; brother, Kraig Daugherty (Julie) of Indianola; stepmother, Ann Daugherty of Lacona; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Ripperger Taylor; father, William Daugherty; and sisters, LaDonna Daugherty and Gloria Jean Wallace.
