Richard George

Richard George, 84 of Chariton, passed away March 18, 2017. A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Jefferson City Cemetery in Jefferson, Iowa. Memorials may be made in care of Richard's family. Richard's family would like to thank Mike Lohr and Katie Oxenreider for all of their care and loving support. Richard Elmer George was born April 21, 1932 to Guinevere and Robert George. Richard enlisted in the United States Army and served in Korea. Richard was blessed with one daughter, Julie Ann George. He was also a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He enjoyed making apple pies for his grandchildren. Richard also loved to fish and really enjoyed fishing trips with his grandson, Nathan. Richard is survived by his daughter, Julie Ann George (Doug Young); 7 grandchildren: Rachel Reece, Jon Nickell, Aaron Nickell, Richard Nickell, Robert Nickell, Nathan Nickell, and Sarah Martinez; 8 great grandchildren: Chloe Reece, Jaxson Reece, MaKenna Reece, Kinnick Reece, Genesis Martinez, Leila Nickell, Makayla Nickell, and Jayden Nickell; sisters, Lilian of Jefferson, Iowa and Dorthea of California; brother John (Martha) of Wisconsin; half-brother, Bill of Jefferson, Iowa; and half-sister, Brenda of Jefferson, Iowa.
