Richard Eugene ?Dick? Scully, age 63, of Albia died Thursday, January 26, 2006 at his residence. He was born June 8, 1942 in Fort Dodge, IA to John Edward and Vera (Kness) Scully. He married Ruby Jordan on October 30, 1976 in Oskaloosa Iowa. Dick was a graduate of Camdenton High School, class of 1964 in Camdenton, MO. After graduation he was a veteran serving in the United States Navy. He worked at Kness Manufacturing in Albia for 33 years. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia, and also was active with its youth group. He was involved in the Steven?s Ministries, and also active in Lay Ministry. Dick coached Little League Baseball in Albia for several years, and he loved to watch football. He is survived by his wife, Ruby of Albia; one daughter, Carmin and (Earl) Snider of Oklahoma; three brothers, John Scully of Fort Dodge, IA, Mike Scully of Des Moines, IA, and Denny Alpers of St. Joseph?s, MO; two sisters, Patty (Chris) Vilelo, and Julie and (Bob) Franklin all of Missouri; one aunt, Nona Brown of Glendale, AZ; two uncles, Lester and (Velma) Kness of Des Moines, IA, and Mike and (Marilyn) Kness of Albia; two granddaughters, Ashley and Mariah Snider; and one great grandson, Austin Snider all of Oklahoma, Dick is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his Step-Father, Ernie Alpers; one step-daughter, Erin Woten; one sister-in-law, Jean Scully; one uncle, Arnold Kness; three aunts, Wilma Nelson, Phyllis Kness, and Margaret Kness. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, January 30 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Albia with Rev. Kevin Leveck & John Van Weelden officiating. Burial with Military Rites conducted by Howard Cessna Post No. 136 American Legion of Albia will be in the Pleasant Corners Cemetery in rural Monroe County. Visitation will begin after 10:00 A.M. Sunday, January 29 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia with the family present from 2-4 P.M. and also from 6-8 P.M. Sunday evening. Casketbearers will be Phil Yenger, Bob Conner, Pat Wynn, Ed Yarkosky, Jerry Stanley, and Gary McGrath. Honorary Casketbearers will be Dick Sperring, John Van Weelden, Charlie Laughhead, Jerry Mosbey, Orlo DeBruin, George Mosley , and Randy VanDerHorst, Bob Yohe, Rowland Barnes, and Robert Burkman Memorials have been established to Hospice of Monroe County, Trinity United Methodist Church, or to the Trinity United Methodist Church Youth Group.
