Raymond Harold Blewitt, Sr., age 82, of Knoxville, Iowa, died on Friday, June 5, 2020 at his residence.
Raymond Harold Blewitt, Sr., was born June 27, 1937 in Toronto, Ohio, to parents Walter and Mary (Frances) Blewitt. He grew up in Youngstown, Ohio and graduated from Youngstown High School in 1955. After high school, Raymond enlisted in the United States Air Force on October 15, 1956. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Mae Kindley on July 16, 1961 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Raymond proudly served his country for 28 years. He retired on October 31, 1984 as Senior Master Sgt.
After his service, Raymond worked in civil service for around 19 years. They lived in many states and a few countries during that time. Raymond was an avid Cleveland Browns fan, enjoyed fishing, John Wayne movies, bowling and travelling. He was a military historian, member of the American Legion, and loved his grandchildren.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Bonnie Blewitt of Knoxville; daughter, Debbie Dron of Knoxville; son, Raymond Blewitt, Jr. (Angela) of Enid, Oklahoma; one sister, Wanda Wineberger; five grandchildren, Sarah Dron, Stephanie Harper (Jeremy), Ashton Blewitt (Bo Kent), Haley Spaulding (Dylan), and Nicholas Blewitt; also one great-granddaughter, Charlotte.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mary Blewitt; and one sister, Beverly Patterson.
Memorials may be given in Raymond's memory to Alzheimer's Association or Disabled Veterans.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at the Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Winfield Funeral Home is assisting the family.
