Randy Ray Pierschbacher, 70, of Chariton, passed away March 24, 2024, after a battle with a rare bone cancer. A visitation will be held Friday, March 29, 2024, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Randy requested no other services to be held. Memorials may be made in care of Randy's family.
Randy was born July 18, 1953, in Chariton, Iowa to Raymond and Gladys Pierschbacher. He grew up north of Chariton and graduated from Chariton High School in 1972. After graduating he worked for the railroad until 1973 when he went to work for Goodyear Tire in Chariton where he was a certified ASE alignment technician. He worked there for 20 years. Then worked at Deflecta-Shield in Corydon until it moved. He then had an opportunity to go back to school. He earned his CDL and went to work at Ideal Ready Mix where he worked until retirement.
Randy was married to Kathy Sinclair in 1973. They celebrated 50 years together last August. They were blessed with two children: Tammy and Justin. The couple loved to travel and go "junking", finding many little treasures in their travels that Randy would put to good use in a project he was working on, or he might find a unique piece that would be a conversation starter. Randy loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing, working in the yard and garden, feeding the birds and watching the wildlife on his farm. He embraced the opportunity to learn. Enjoyed science and how things worked. Randy enjoyed building and creating. He would study up on a project before he started so he would know all the pitfalls and would be prepared for any obstacle. Randy built his family's home. He enjoyed tinkering with cars and anything mechanical. He had just completed a dune buggy of sorts this last fall. More than anything he loved being with his family and he cherished time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Preceding Randy in death were his parents: Raymond and Gladys; and his sister, Diane Bauman.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Kathy; children: Tammy (Steve) Pennington, and Justin Pierschbacher; grandchildren: Charley (Scott) Cooper, Colt Pennington, Payton Pierschbacher, and Olivia Pierschbacher; great grandchildren: Tayliegh, Brooke, Charliegh, Blaine, and Griffin; his sister, Marsha Sanders; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
