Randy Harnden

Randy Charles Harnden, age 65, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at Westridge Specialty Care. Military Honors will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral home in Knoxville. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Randy was born on May 6, 1958, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Charles and Grace Harnden. Randy joined the United States Navy in 1977 and proudly served his country for 5 years.

Randy attended DMACC and obtained his CDL license. He then worked for Ready Mix for several years, drove a concrete mixer truck then later a dump truck, and operated heavy equipment.

Randy enjoyed watching NASCAR races and also loved attending the drag races in Eddyville. He loved spending time with his son Robert, and his family and friends. Randy always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell. Randy loved to eat and socialize, especially at a barbeque.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Robert (Natasha) Harnden of Urbandale; grandchildren, Amelia and Gabriel Carter of Urbandale; siblings, Janie (Edward) Smith of Oskaloosa, Kathy (Clifford) Hoch of Lacona, Craig Carter of Pleasantville, Jeff (Linda) Carter of Knoxville, Melody (Dave) Gray of Runnells; and several nieces and nephews.

Randy is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Grace, and Jim Carter.

Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Knoxville is assisting Randy’s family with arrangements.
