Ralph grew up in Marion County alongside his siblings, Gene and Sherry. Ralph asked his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Byers, to marry him after he quit his job that kept him away from home. Her response was, "As long as you get a job." The couple was united in marriage on August 31, 1956. They were the first couple to be married at the new First Baptist Church in Melcher. Ralph and Bonnie made their home in Dallas and were blessed with three children: Ricky, Randy, and Holly. Ralph supported his family by working in electrical utilities. He worked as a lineman for both MidAmerican Energy and Iowa Power for forty years. Although he enjoyed the work, his true love was farming. Ralph loved putting in hours on the family farm, Crandall Farm. The Lang family made a lot of memories together on camping trips. They loved to spend time on and near the water; fishing, water skiing, and boating. Some of their most memorable vacations took them to Oregon, Alaska, Missouri and Minnesota. Ralph and Bonnie continued to explore together after the kids were grown. They always enjoyed going on drives together to local places like Stephen's Forest and along the Mississippi River to see the seasonal colors. Ralph also looked forward to taking the grandkids fishing. Ralph will be dearly missed by his children: Ricky Lang, Randy Lang, and Holly (Wayne) Hoelscher; 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sister, Sherry (Bill) Jenkins; along with many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bonnie Lang; and brother, Gene Lang. Cemetery Details Columbia Cemetery Columbia, IA
