Pete Golob, age 90, of rural Melrose, Iowa died Thursday, October 26, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born June 29, 1916 in Albia, Iowa to Frank and (Anna) Golob. He married Lucille Theresa Bellis on February 13, 1943. She passed away in November of 1982. Pete later married Eulah Etter on September 29, 1986. Eulah passed away on February 7, 2004. Pete was a farmer his entire life. He was a member of St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Melrose, and also a member of the Eagles Club Aerie No. 114 of Ottumwa, Iowa. He is survived by one son, Mike (Paula) Golob of Vancouver, WA; one daughter, Nancy (Chuck) Casady of Albia, IA; four grandchildren, Tiffany, Clayton, Devin, and Jason; and 2 great grandchildren, Hunter, and Cloie DeMoss. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, his two wives; one son John Golob; five brothers, Andrew, John, Joe, George, and Ludwick Golob. One half brother, Frank Selak, and one half sister, Toni Raspitnik also precede Pete in death. Funeral services will be Monday, October 30, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Melrose, Iowa with Rev. Robert Lathrop officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Melrose. Visitation will open after 1:00 P.M. Sunday, October 29, 2006 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia. The casket will be moved to St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Melrose at 4:00 P.M. Sunday afternoon with the family present from 6-8 P.M. Sunday Evening at the church. A Christian Wake Service and Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. Sunday evening at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Melrose. Casketbearers will be: Maurice Scieszinski, Mike Knowles, Larry Scieszinski, Joe Parenza , Eddie Scieszinski, and Joe Sinnott. Honorary Casketbearers will be: Pat Knowles, John Knowles, Jack Murphy, Jason Golob, Clayton Casady, and Brad DeMoss Memorials have been established to St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Melrose.
