Patricia Mae Holt

Patricia Mae (Melendy) Holt, age 93, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away on March 9, 2022, at Northern Mahaska Specialty Care in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
Patricia was born on December 6, 1928, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Juanita (Evans) Melendy. Following high school, Patricia attended DMACC and obtained a Keyboard Operator Certification.
Patricia was united in marriage to James Holt on January 21, 1949, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. They enjoyed 64 years of marriage before his passing on April 16, 2013. Patricia and James were blessed with four children, Pam, Sherry, Jeff, and Joy.
Patricia was a homemaker for many years, and then worked for Blue Cross & Blue Shield as a keyboard operator for five years. Patricia’s greatest joy was her family. She enjoyed helping any way she could and loved them all. Patricia was also very talented at sewing and garden canning.
Visitation for Patricia will be held on Monday, March 14, 2022, at Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. with her family present to greet friends and relatives. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Following burial, a luncheon will be held at Celebrate Community Church.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Pam (Ron) Meriweather of Oskaloosa, Sherry (Gary) Smith of Knoxville, and Joy (Rick) Van Donsler of Knoxville; eight grandchildren, Jeff Smith, Jeremy Smith, Ryan Van Donsler, Joel (Kyley) Van Donsler, Casey Van Donsler, Leanne Meriweather, Amy Meriweather, and Christy (Tim) Dykstra. Patricia is also survived by 14 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandsons.
Patricia is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Juanita Melendy; husband, James Holt; son, Jeff Holt; and two sisters, Mary Joan Bolton and Betty Wright.
Memorials may be given in Patricia’s memory to Bessie Spaur Butterfly Garden in Knoxville.
