Nina Ruth (Culver) Bellon

Nina Ruth (Culver) Bellon, age 68, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021 at her home in Knoxville.
Nina was born in Creston, Iowa, on September 2, 1952, the daughter of Kenneth and Della Culver. Nina was raised in Chariton and attended Chariton High School and graduated with the Class of 1970. After high school, Nina attended Indian Hills Community College and attained her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree.
Nina was united in marriage to Michael Bellon on May 12, 1989. They were blessed with 39 years together. Nina served in the Iowa National Guard and was in active duty during Desert Storm from January 1991 through June 1991. Following her time in the service she attained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing through Des Moines Area Community College.
Nina was employed at the V.A. Hospital in Knoxville for 32 years until her retirement.
Nina’s wishes were to be cremated. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Winfield Funeral Home from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. with Nina’s family present to greet friends and relatives. Following visitation, burial with military honors will be held at Ridlen Cemetery.
Those left to cherish Nina’s memory include her husband, Mike Bellon; daughter Nicki VanderVeer (Jeff); grandchildren, Alex, Alyssa, and Amber VanderVeer; great-grandchildren, Addison, Kinsley, Kingeri, and Luxley; also sisters, Judy Pridgen and Karen DeVore (Larry).
Nina is preceded in death by her mother, Della Culver; brother-in-law, Ed Pridgen; and granddaughter, Malloree Murphy.
