Newton Jasper “Jay” Rogers, III, age 69, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022, at Harmony Health in Waterloo, Iowa.
Jay was born on December 27, 1952, in Houston, Texas, the son of Newton and Bettye (Burke) Rogers. Jay grew up in Houston and graduated from Clear Creek High School.
Jay was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Bunn, and they were blessed with two children, Jennifer, and Elizabeth.
Jay was employed as an Automative Consultant for several years. He enjoyed playing the piano and guitar (he was self-taught by ear). Jay played the bass guitar for The Shadows. He loved the water, fishing, riding motorcycles and flying planes. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and family. Jay will be remembered by his family as a loving father and grandfather.
Those left to cherish Jay’s memory include his children, Jennifer Nolan (Corey), and Elizabeth Cale (Chris); their mother, Patricia; granddaughters, Alexandra Nolan and Gabriella Rogers (Nolan); sister, Genie Lippe (Pat Lippe); and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jay is proceded in death by his parents, Newton and Bettye Rogers.
Visitation for Jay will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at the Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene in Moravia, Iowa, from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. with his family present to greet friends and relatives. A funeral service will take place at 10:00 A.M. Following services, a time of fellowship will follow at the Church.
Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville is assisting Jay’s family with arrangements.
