Neil Alan Dick, 76, passed away peacefully at his home on February 10, 2024. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton. Military honors will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. by the United States Army prior to the gathering. Neil will be interred at Chariton Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Neil's family.

Neil was born in Ottumwa, Iowa on February 22, 1947, to James and Velma (Beck) Dick. He graduated from Cardinal High School in Eldon, Iowa. Following high school, Neil joined the United States Army where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served over eight years, with three of those years being spent overseas, including Vietnam. Neil eventually started a career with the State of Iowa as a fraud investigator for the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals. Following his retirement with the State of Iowa, he worked at Tru Value in Chariton.

Neil loved to enjoy the outdoors and be part of nature. Whether it was hunting or fishing with his friends, he loved being outside. He and his fishing group would take an annual camping trip to Rathbun where they would fish and have a wonderful time. Neil also loved to tinker in the woodshop. He made various things, including picnic tables and lawn chairs. He took immense pride in his work.

Neil is survived by his wife, Leah; children: Donna Hunter, Dan Trump, Jim Trump, and Joshua Brown; a brother, Denny (Debbie) Dick; several grandchildren; and many nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, June; and a grandchild, Kylie Hunter.
