Nathan Duane Stouwie was born July 2, 1944 to Ben and Dee (Humes) Stouwie in Hondo, Texas. He grew up in Pella, Iowa and attended the Pella Christian High School, graduating in 1962. He went to Dordt College for a year, then moved to Chino, California to play semipro baseball with the Chino Airvent Reds. Growing up in the 60's, he always had a fast car. In 1965, Nathan moved back to Iowa to run his dad's milk route. He married Linda Ferguson in 1966, and to this union, they were blessed with three children: Sherry, Angie and Diane. Nathan played fast pitch and slow pitch softball for many years. He also enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and just being outdoors. Nathan married Penny Butler in 2003. He was blessed to gain two more children: Amber and Dusty Butler. He was a truck driver for 57 years and never had any accidents. Twenty years of his trucking career, he drove for Hite Trucking. He found his second home with Hoy Trucking. One of Nathan's greatest loves was spending time with his family in Iowa and in Texas. He dearly loved his siblings. He loved to make people smile and laugh and was willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed. Nathan was known as "Dad" to over 100 young people in Russell, due to his love for kids. Nathan had a quirky sense of humor. He said there were three women he feared. The first was his boss' wife, because she wrote the paychecks. The other was his own wife, because she controlled the checks and credit cards. The third was his mom. Nathan will be missed by his wife, Penny; children: Amber (Tim Foster) Butler and Dusty Butler; four grandchildren: Felicity, Huntley, Lenyx and Braleigh; sister, Linda Buster of Jonesboro, TX; brother, Kenneth Stouwie (Celia) of Pella, IA; brother, Marv Bokhoven of New Sharon, IA; sister-in-law, Brenda (Steve) Weinmeister of Oskaloosa, IA; sister-in-law, Sheila Krems of Edgerton, MO; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
