Myrna "Lucy" Boggs Vansteenis

Myrna “Lucy” Boggs VanSteenis, age 91, of Knoxville, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Pella Regional Health Center.

Lucy was born on April 8, 1929, in rural Lacona, Iowa, the daughter of Lewis and Sadie (Graves) Snell. She grew up on her family’s farm and attended country school and then Chariton High School. Lucy was united in marriage to Donald Boggs on June 17, 1947. They were blessed with two children, Gary and Linda. Lucy and Donald enjoyed 43 years of marriage before his passing in September, 1990. Lucy was later married to Don VanSteenis.

Lucy was employed at Community National Bank for 28 years. She collected owls and liked going shopping. Lucy played the organ and played at the Oskaloosa Baptist Church, where she was a longtime member.

Those left to cherish Lucy’s memory include her son, Gary D. Boggs (Marty Davis) of rural Pleasantville, daughter, Linda I. Anderson-Sisson of Davenport; grandchildren, Shonna Lehigh (Darrel); Nicholas Boggs and Patrick Boggs (Melissa); great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Stacia, Logan, Marissa, Dakota, Lindsey, and Lauren. She is also survived by great-great-grandchildren, Averi, Zayleigh, Izabella, Holdyn, Nash and Logan (Ashley).

Lucy is preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Sadie Snell; husbands, Donald Boggs and Don VanSteenis; one brother in infancy; and one sister, Leora Daughtery.

Visitation for Lucy will be held on Monday, December 7, 2020 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. A funeral service will be held following visitation at 2:00 at the Winfield Funeral Home. Burial services will take place at the Carlisle Cemetery in Carlisle, Iowa.
