Michael Joseph Hoch

Michael Joseph Hoch passed away April 17, 2018, at the age of 70 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, April 23, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas. The family will be present on Sunday, April 22, 2018, from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas. Memorials may be made to the Melcher-Dallas Fire and Rescue Department. Michael was born July 24, 1947, to Gilbert and Coletta (Ripperger) Hoch. He attended school at Melcher graduating in 1965. He married the love of his life, Sharon Bingham, on October 9, 1965, and was blessed with four daughters: Valerie, Krystal, Stacy and Shantell. Michael worked at Maytag in Newton for 26.5 years until his retirement in May of 1992. Following his retirement he managed a farm in rural Lacona for Roger and Becky Stover. This gave him something to do and an opportunity to make great memories with all of his children and grandchildren. He most recently worked part-time for the city. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He cherished his family and loved time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Aside from the love he had for his family, his second love was for the Melcher-Dallas fire department where he was a volunteer for almost 52 years. He was the ambulance driver, a firefighter and most recently the pumper Captain. He took great pride in being the first one to the station every time there was a call for help. Michael will be greatly missed by his daughters; Valerie (Richard) Johnson, Krystal (Paul) Manges, Stacy (Michael) Anderson, and Shantell (Kevin) Cottington; 6 grandchildren; Rachel (Chance) Mayfield, Garould Johnson (Emily Nichols), Megan Anderson (Trenton Bacus), Logan Anderson, Gabriella Manges and Trevor Raab; step-grandson, Brendan Cottington; 3 great grandchildren; True, Kaden and Asher Mayfield; and 3 step-great grandchildren;.Jessie Cottington, Alexandria Cottington, and Anna Greenlee. He will also be missed by many other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Sharon; parents (Gilbert and Coletta Hoch) ; parents in-law (Kenneth and Lois Bingham); and several other family members including two brothers, four brothers in-law, sister, nephews and nieces.
