Michael Joel “Mike” Deaver, age 64, of Bussey, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Pella Regional Health Center.
Mike’s visitation will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville, from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Mike’s family will be present to greet friends and relatives from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. A funeral service will follow visitation at 1:00 P.M at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Following services, a luncheon will be held at Knoxville Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Michael Joel Deaver was born on November 11, 1957, at Wayne County Hospital in Chariton, Iowa, the son of Joel and Donna (Carter) Deaver. He grew up in Williamson and then moved to Trenton, Missouri with his mom. Mike then moved back to Knoxville and graduated from Knoxville High School, Class of 1976.
During high school, Mike worked at Hy-Vee in Knoxville. Following graduation, he became employed at 3M in Knoxville on October 19, 1976. Mike worked there until his retirement in July, 2019.
Mike was united in marriage to Tish McIntosh on December 28, 2002, at Albia United Methodist Church. They were blessed with 19 years of marriage before his passing.
Mike was a volunteer with Bussey Fire & Rescue for 22 years. He enjoyed helping with all their various events, and especially enjoyed kindergartener day during fire prevention week.
Mike lived on an acreage for over 30 years and enjoyed raising various animals, especially horses. Mike loved hunting, (especially deer & turkeys). His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Mike is survived by his wife, Tish Deaver, of Bussey; father, Joel (Helen) Deaver of Knoxville; step-son, Lance (Emily) McIntosh of Norwalk, and their children, Elise and Byron McIntosh; step-daughter, Stephanie Julander of Lake Orion, Michigan, and children, Tatum and Callen Julander; and their father, Mike Julander. Mike is also survived by his brother, Mark Deaver of Bettendorf; and half-sister, Angie (Marcellus) Crews of Maryland.
Mike is preceded in death by his mother, Donna Diven.
Memorials may be given in Mike’s memory to Bussey Fire & Rescue.
